Training

My ethos is that training should be FUN for both owner and dog!

I use only positive, reward based methods and encourage people to try clicker training if they have not used this method before. (See my article on clicker training via the link above)

I run a range of training classes (details and dates can be found at the bottom of this page) including:

    • Puppy classes

    • Dog training classes

    • Fun Agility

    • Flyball

    • Doggy dancing

    • RALLY! FUN NEW OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Rally obedience, or ʻRallyʼ, is the newest dog sport to arrive from the US. Dog and handler teams navigate a course with numbered signs indicating different exercises to perform such as Sit-Down-Sit, Straight Figure 8, Send Over Jump, Recall Over Jump. Handlers are encouraged to talk to their dogs and reward during the performance. Rally is described as combining the characteristics of sports car racing, dog agility, and traditional obedience into a new fun sport. Anyone whose dog has basic training can take part and have a go!

Courses are usually six weeks long and are held near Kircubbin on the Ards peninsula.

All courses have six slots as a maximum so that everyone gets plenty of individual attention.

The cost of a course of class lessons (six weeks) is £40.

For more advanced dogs and handlers, some of my training is run on a week by week basis at a cost of around £5 per session.

Contact me or see below to find out when the next course starts of the type you are interested in.

I can provide one-to-one training either at my base or in your own home by agreement.

One-to-one training costs £60 - 80 per session depending on venue (sessions last around 90 minutes. Cost is for one dog: please add £10 for each additional dog).

I also train to competition level if required. Please ask for details.
